composite beam designation

sorry for the silly question, but i was wondering if there was a standard way to designate composite steel beams with multiple rows of shear studs.  right now i have something like: W18x40 (2@15) [c=1"].  it's the "2@15" that i'm wondering about.  i don't assume it's a huge deal, but if there was a standard way of designating that, i'd like to put it on the drawings correctly.  thanks for any help!

RE: composite beam designation

I've usually just seen the number called out on the drawing.  Then some structural notes which designate when to use multiple rows of studs.... though I haven't been the EOR on any of these types of jobs.

RE: composite beam designation

My way of doing is to provide a beam schedule.  The only thing that appears on plan is B1, B2, etc.

RE: composite beam designation

So then Hokie,  do you tend to B1 to B2 critical of the contractor, B8ting them B4 a full knowledge of the problems, or do you tend to B9 on the issue?

RE: composite beam designation

At the moment, I tend more to BS.

RE: composite beam designation

Boy...., that's beeeeeautiful, Mike and Hokie.

RE: composite beam designation

Do I detect a note of immaturity here?
