How to polish Titanium64 alloy

How to polish Titanium64 alloy

(OP)
Hi guys,

I have been trying to polish titanium64 without reaching the final stage(0.04 microns) as I don't want the sample partially polished but, I always have scratches on which I cannot afford.

Anyone with experience in preparation of titanium samples??

RE: How to polish Titanium64 alloy

Try using "clean" abrasive pads, nothing that has been used on anything else. Burrs can be embedded in the larger grits (ie 400-800) that will tear your specimen up with scratches that will be too deep for finer grits to get out. if you get a deep scratch, go back to square 1 and start over.
