% XRAY and Liquid Penetrant on pipe according to ASME B31.3
% XRAY and Liquid Penetrant on pipe according to ASME B31.3
(OP)
Hi!!
I´m searching in ASME B31.3 something about how much of liquid penentrants and XRAY must be done at least on pipe lines.
I have two services: one of natural gas (10 psig and 70°F and 1"Ø) and other for steam (260 psig and 350°C)
According to ASME B31.3, each XRAY and liquid penetrants (%) depends on type of service (if it is normal, M, high pressure, etc). .... or Am i Wrong?
If that is, for gas pipe line and also for steam line is 100% xray and 100% liquid penetrant but I think I´m getting something wrong.
What do you think?
Thxs!!!

341.4 Extent of Required Examination
It's around page 78. There are sections for Normal Fluid Service, Category D fluid service and Elevated Temperature Fluid Service.
Category M examination requirements can be found in M341 EXAMINATION. Around page 109.
You are correct, each fluid service has varying levels of examination required, ie 20% random radiography/ultra sonic for one but only 5% for another.
