What to do after PE

What to do after PE

What to do after PE

(OP)
I am at a cross roads of my career. I moved back to my homestate and am working locally for my previous office. I have my PE, but am becoming disinterested with design work.

Anyone have any job ideas for a licensed structural engineer for jobs other than design engineer?

RE: What to do after PE

That's pretty much what a PE does but you might consider

   Sales
   Management
Go back to college and get a different degree
   Start your own business
   Teaching

Good luck

That's like saying I don't like eating because I'm sick of pizza.  Design work means so many things. Find something different!

Not that I'm in any way favored.

How in the heck do you expect us to tell you?  Do whatever the heck you want to do . . . AND makes you happy!

good luck!

RE: What to do after PE

After I PE, I wash my hands.

Sorry, that was busting to get out!

It's time to start discussing what new and exciting things you can do for the company with the boss.  Things that interest you matched with things they need done.  I probably would not mention being disinterested with design work though.  Write it all down in your career/development plan.  In the process of doing that, your next step may become evident.  Then, do it.

Good luck,

Field engineering - for those of us tired of the office monotony.

Here's a thought...

You might want to get involved with disaster assistance through FEMA, etc. You can be on call when disaster strikes if you are willing to relocate at a moment's notice.

I can't look at the title without thinking, 'I always liked to schedule lunch after PE.'
