API 14A slurry test - viscosifier to be used

API 14A slurry test - viscosifier to be used

(OP)
Dear all
I'm going to perform slurry test on a 18" ball valve and I need to knw how to increase the viscosity of the slurry fluid that I've prepared (water + 2% of sand 150 microm grain size): API14 calls for a 'viscosifier' to be added to water in order to achive a value of viscosity of 70 (Marsh funnel time).

Does anyone know how to do it or what I could use as viscosifier?

thanks in advance

Massimo

This is not a valve question. Try the chemical process engineering forum.

Maybe ask folks at Halliburton.
My first thought would be a drilling mud or fracturing fluid.

SNORGY.
