While using Rotary(4th Axis) how to spin part along "A" axis in ugnx7.5.. I want to machine a tubine blade all arround using Rotary Axis spining part along rotary
Thanks

RE: spin part along rotary axis
You'll need a "Variable Contour" operation set up however you like it.
The key element is to set your "tool axis" correctly. You should choose "away from line". The line you select must represent the center of rotation on your machine.
Now, when you post, you will probably get thousands of tiny rotary moves. If this is the case, you will need to play with the post a little bit. There is a custom command you can import called "pb_cmd_combine_rotary.tcl". As the name suggests, this command will attempt to combine the little moves into a few big moves.
Hope this gets you started.

In some cases I have used a cylinder as the Drive geometry and used Surface - area as the drive method. Create a cylinder through the main axis of the part, typically the same axis you are rotating about. Select this as the drive surface. This will give you more control over the stepover and tool axis/projection vector.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. I will try this today and
woking in Variable - Contour , it was asking drive surface , when I select the drive surface there is no stepover (Tool to shift in X direction) there is only Number of Passes .. Is there any option to give constant stepover distance.
Thanks & Regards

Thanks, But I dont see Constant .. Here I attached a Picture Please have a look
Thanks and regards
RE: spin part along rotary axis
Do you really need it to be constant??
Why not just pick a number of cuts that gives you something close to the desired results?

I am Facing problem when I use surface drive method, i,e there are sprial curves when it is shifting A360 to A1, Here I attached a picture please have a look
Thanks
RE: spin part along rotary axis
I don't have NX currently in front of me to be specific and can't access the internet at work (except with my Blackberry)but off the top of my head:
J, correct. Forgot constant is only in Streamline. That said, it's been my go to when I was doing blades. Much more control than the standard surface drive method. I also like the immediate feedback when changing area of cut using percentages. I think most folks use Streamline on blades these days.
As far as the "looping" in the picture, could it be the engage/retract points? Try NONE for both and only use the them on the Initial and Final. Also, you might find using Tool Axis Interpolate or the 4axis lead/lag method (don't recall the name) for tool axis control will allow you to keep the tool at a slight lead angle to prevent the ball center from taking all the wear.
