Move libraries to server

Move libraries to server

Move libraries to server

(OP)
Hello,

We are moving from a single user setup to a single license in a client/server setup (two users).  How do you move the libraries from the single machine over to the server?  What folder/files etc.

Thank you for your time and help.

RE: Move libraries to server

Start SolidWorks.
Look in SYSTEM OPTIONS under FILE LOCATIONS.
Make sure that any of the files here that you plan to "share" are located on your server, not your C:\.
Then make sure all your SolidWorks PCs are set-up the same.
Be aware that SolidWorks searches these file locations in the order that they're listed.
So re-order them so that the most likely location is listed first.
I've been told that this speeds things up a bit, but I admit that I'm skeptical.
There may be a few other files here-and-there that you'll need to set-up likewise, but I'm sure this will be a real good start for you.

Sounds like you just became a CAD Manager - you poor fool

Thanks for the info.  I'll look there and try to get the libraries moved over.  Our IT department has taken over managing all issues in the company including engineering now so we are dealing with issues such as specific CAD software etc.  I'm sure it will be fun! :)

Easier but much more costly!

Cy,
Don’t forget to put your templates “D1.drwdot and D1.slddrt” on the server also.  We also put the bomtemp.xls file out there in a write-protected directory. Then copy it to C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english\bomtemp.xls when changes are done.

We just started using SW so I"m not sure what all they have gotten into yet.  I'll check on the templates as well, thanks.
