Basis for when plants have evacuation buttons/break class or not..
Basis for when plants have evacuation buttons/break class or not..
(OP)
I'm looking for guidenace or code references which cover requirements law or best pratice or otherwise...
I would assume flammable and toxic plants typically have these.. and this is what i've seen and it comes down to engineering judgement..
low hazard plants dont have these.. or low hazard plants on a low hazard site..
i'm confident i can design a suitable system for my project.. inline with what we have done elsewhere but i'd like to check if a standard exsits.

RE: Basis for when plants have evacuation buttons/break class or not..
If it helps, I checked our own company standard titled "GENERAL SPECIFICATION FOR PLANT, FIRE AND GAS WARNING SYSTEMS" for references and there were very few, mainly NFPA 72 and 101 which you probably know. Apparently there is no specific API reference on this subject. Although our company standard lays everything out nicely for standards of installation like field emergency fire and gas alarm buttons, etc; the locations and need are stated to be determined by the facility owner. You would think there would be specific standards that insurance carriers would require for manufacturing sites, but I can't find any.
best wishes,
