A182 F11 Class 2 Modulus of Elasticity
A182 F11 Class 2 Modulus of Elasticity
(OP)
Hi All,
Can anyone provide me with modulus of elasticity data for A182 F11 Class 2?
Matweb shows 200GPa for A182 F11 Class 1, but no info for Class 2.
Had a play with google but came up empty.
I need this to perform a wake frequency calc.
Cheers.

I did notice on the MatWeb datasheet that the 200GPa figure quoted was commented as "typical for steel".
I'll use this for our calculations.
Cheers!

Have a look at Table TM-1 of ASME II Part D.
The modulus of elasticity (E) is temperature dependent. 200 GPa is based on a temperature of 100°C. As the temperature increases, E decreases. If you want an accurate E for a given temperature, you might want to look at Table TM-1. If the E you are looking for is between reference temperatures, you will need to interpolate.
RE: A182 F11 Class 2 Modulus of Elasticity
Our design temp is +100degC, so we have chosen to go with 200GPa.
Out of interest I re-ran our calcs up to +/- 20% of the 200GPa figure used and the variation on the natural frequency calculated was only approx -2Hz to +4Hz so it made very little difference for our application.
Cheers.
