Risa 3d Internal Section Data
Risa 3d Internal Section Data
(OP)
Does anybody know if it is possible to view or export the data Risa 3d uses to plot the force diagrams. I'd like to be able to determine what the shear force and moment is at any point along a beam. From the design results Risa produces it seems as though the program calculates the locations of inflection points and the forces at support faces, which is mostly what I'm interested in, but it doesn't display any of the data it uses, only the forces at equally spaced intervals, which does not really help at all. It'd be nice if it was possible to export the force diagrams to excel so I could add a trendline and get an equation to find the moment at any point. If anyone could provide any information if this is possible it would be greatly appreciated. I've spent hours modeling a structure and placing loads to do an analysis and now it seems like I might have chosen the wrong program to do this in.

RE: Risa 3d Internal Section Data
I understand this is different from the internal values you were asking for, for what I have not an answer. This however will be easily resolved for any future release of RISA 3D since the algorithm producing the Detail charts can obviously work for more points than those currently targeted, and a table could be generated for these.

Just change the 20 to 2 and re-run - then plot the moment on the screen and you'll see that the moment curve is very abrupt.
You can copy and paste the Member Forces (with 20 chosen as the number of segments) into a spreadsheet and plot your curves that way.
In fact, in the spreadsheet you create you can create more than 20 segments and interpolate between values to get a softer curve.
RE: Risa 3d Internal Section Data
I think it's a great idea to add a feature like this. I've added a "feature request" to add a "Copy Data" option to our expanded member force diagrams which copies this data to the clipboard so that you can paste it into Excel or wherever you want.
I cannot say how easy or difficult it would be to implement this feature yet. That will affect how quickly it gets into the program.
