Best Hilti Epoxy Anchor....
Best Hilti Epoxy Anchor....
(OP)
I have to bolt some shelf angles to a concrete column/wall....very light loads.
I was just curious what Hilti products others have had good success when. (Client wants Hilti).
Indoor heated space.
HVU capsule with HAS Rod?

I also specify Simpson...but have some experience with Hilti HY 150...acceptable. I like Simpson because of direct involvement with their testing program and support from their technical group....better than Hilti.

If the anchor spacing is close then I switch to Hilti Hit Hy 150. The tables are more expansive in terms of minimum edge distances and spacings. And I believe the reduction factors are a bit less.
In my practice I've been using Hilti almost exclusively when I have to spec post installed anchors. So far I haven't had any problems. Of course you'll always get the occasional complaint that they are hitting rebar when drilling but not much one can do about that.

Yes, your posts were quite serious compared to the rest.
I did some research.
I have used Hilti's products myself over the years and was basically trying to get some opinions.
I have never actually used the HVA system myself. The installation videos of it that I found on the net look intriguing.

Hilti has a great 'Anchor Selector guide' on page 51 of the '2011 Anchor Fastening Technical Guide' for free download.

We typically use the HIT HY150 and HY20 anchors quite often - along with Hilti's mechanical anchors.
We've also specified Simpson Titen anchors and the similar Powers anchor. I had one contractor/client of ours say that they've had problems with the Titen anchor (threads stripping off) but not sure if that was due to the anchor or perhaps wrong installation procedures.
Also have specified undercut anchors.

Pick it up and USE it!!!
People will not only give you the answers you are looking for - they may have more info that is quite important/valuable.
Off the subject - I wanted to buy an I-pad for my g-daughter - but was a few hundred points short on my AMEX. Called them - she said "NO PROBLEM " - you have been a good customer for like 20 years and pay your bills. I will waive the couple hundred points. Couldn't have done that on the NET!!
One on one contact is always much better.

We use Hilti nearly exclusively. For light loading HY150 is still probably a conservative choice, but a great product. RE500 for heavier loading or high tension loads. Downside to the RE500 is the long cure time.

If you use the Hilti - Profis program the analysis will give you a list of applicable products.

I was trying to get the opinions of other professionals. Not just those of the company making the product.
I don't see this as any different than many of the posts here.

They are cheaper, did not charge an arm and a leg when the code changed and Simpson is not responsible for Appendix D.
In addition, the rep. for Simpson in our area is far more knowledgeable than the Hilti rep. It is not good when you point out errors in the reps. calculations during a slid show.
