Bushing groove design

Bushing groove design

Bushing groove design

(OP)

I am trying to find out if there is a recommended practice for groove design in bushings. All of the cases I found were rotating and I have an axially moving cylinder within two bronze bushings, grease lubricated...

Current idea is to have a radial groove on the outside with four holes distributing grease to the inside. I read that a labyrinth groove is recommended but I am having trouble determining the size, ammount and distribution of grooves...

I apologize if any of the terminology is incorrect, English was not my graduation language and I am still quite new.

RE: Bushing groove design

My experiences with grooved bushings is that the engineers at companies like Bunting can recommend a proper groove for the application.  The bushings aren't that expensive.
