NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

(OP)
I started a new drawing, added a base view, two projected views and two section views.  They named themselves 'B' and 'C' and when I try to change 'C' to 'A' it tells me it's already in use.
I did a part cleanup and also checked the letters on all other views...
NX 6.0.2.8

Thanks in advance!

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

Are you using a Drawing template file?  If so, open just the original Template file, then while in Drafting, but before you create any views, go to...

Preferences -> View Label...

...and at the bottom of the dialog, what do you see in the field labeled 'Letter'?

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

There may be a slight chance that there is a view in there with the "A" title in it.
Go to your part navagtor and expand the sheet (probably "sheet 1") and see if there is a view in there with an "A" in the last letter of the view title. You can delete it from there if you need to.

John - Yes on the template, and it says A...

Jerry - Checked that already...

Cowski - I saw that, but I already checked my other views...

John -  I should probably also tell you there is a front view in the template as well.  Would this be what is taking away letter 'A' and if so, why?

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

It shouldn't.

Have you tried creating a Drawing from scratch (i.e. NOT from a predefined template) and see if the problem still exists.  If it doesn't, you have may have to create a new Drawing template from scratch and replace th existing one.

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

Or can you reproduce it in a file that you can upload?

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

Apparently it is something in the template.  When I assign the front view in the template the letter Z or just remove it all together it lets me have A.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

Hey!

Just a question regarding the same issue. Is there any way of using the same label twice i.e. the same label shows up for two different views in their respective sheets without having to do it manually?

RE: NX 6 - View letter 'A' already in use (but it's not!)

Yes, you can copy and paste the view label using:
edit -> annoation -> text
