Litterature on Corrosion on subsea equipment

Litterature on Corrosion on subsea equipment

(OP)
Hello! I'm a Norwegian engineer in the field of material technology, just completed my 5 years study this year. I've just got job in the field of sub sea petroleum industry. I'm highly motivated and, although I'm not starting until next year, I want to read some literature about the subject, to keep my head hot. I'm having trouble navigating in th jungle of litterture on the subjects:

-Introduction to sub sea petroleum tech.
-Corrosion in the petroleums industry.

I'm good with corrosion, but completely green on sub sea (and petroleum)

Any good with tips will be highly appreciated!

Great, thanks! This is just the stuff I need! I'll check it out, and try to get my head around it! Any more suggestions on something like an introduction book to the subject sub sea production?

Subsea Engineering Handbook, Y Bai & Q Bai, Elsevier 2010

You can then follow that with the ISO 13628 series of standards.

If you become a member of NACE, then you can search 15 years' worth of conference papers to your heart's content.

Enjoy and good luck.

Stainless alloys which can resist corrosion in undersea applications include the superaustenitic grades AL-6XN (UNS N08367) made in the US, and 254 SMO (UNS S31254) from Outokumpu in Avesta, Sweden.
The superduplex stainless steels, such as SAF 2507 (UNS S32750, 1.4410) and ZERON 100 (UNS S32760, 1.4501) cost less but require more care in welding.
All four grades have been used for offshore oil construction such as in the North Sea.
For data AL-6XN and ZERON 100 data look at www.rolledalloys.com, for 254 SMO and 2507 see www.outokumpu.com.
(I am a retired Rolled Alloys metallurgist, wrote a good deal of what is on their website)
