Can anyone tell me what this is?

Can anyone tell me what this is?

Can anyone tell me what this is?

(OP)
I was given some pictures of an item and was asked if I could find out what it was. After a lot of searching online, I still haven't nailed it down. Can anyone tell me what this is? Sorry about the picture quality, it is a picture of a picture.

RE: Can anyone tell me what this is?

It looks like it is an induction disc kWh meter, or 3 of them.  There is a mechanical register with 4 dials on the top left that I can't read.  The one at the lower right reads out in kWH.  The other mechanical register (lower left)looks like it reads out in Ah (ampere-hrs).  The manufacture's name, Westinghouse, is shown at the top right.

RE: Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's called a ferraris disc.
I suggest you Google it for an explanation.

RE: Can anyone tell me what this is?

This is several meters combined into one assembly.
The lower right is a KWHr meter such as is used on your home. This one will be rated at 120V and 5A rather than 240V and 100A or 200 A for the house meter.
The lower left is similar but records KVAHrs.
The upper left probably records KVARHrs.
The strip recorder on the bottom right probably records KVA demand and may record other parameters also.
With a multiplier of 1600 this would meter an apparent maximum flow of just under 1 MVA. (960 KVA)

RE: Can anyone tell me what this is?

Waross has it correct. It is a KVAh summating meter using a rotating ball assembly in the center that also reads the PF, as well as driving the KVAh register. It is a museum piece. don`t throw it away. Someone who collects meters would be interested.

Thanks to everyone who replied, I have been able to verify that is is a Summator.

RE: Can anyone tell me what this is?

Every time I see something like this, I stand in awe of the genius involved in its design.  It's just a cleverly assembled conglomeration of magnets and coils and spindles, yet it performs its design function for years.  It could be maintained by a knowledgeable technician with simple hand tools.

No oscilloscope, no serial port, no firmware upgrades, no latest revision of the setup software.

Okay... post-Thanksgiving nostalgia...

You mean decades.

Indeed. Amazing..
