Does anyone have experience with Inco 907. I have a forging and it appears to be magnetic and also does not have any corrosion resistance. I appreciate that this is an Iron based alloy but it also has a high Nickel content which I thought would make the part non magnetic. An explanation as to why this is magnetic would be greately appreciated

Does anyone have experience machining this material, as recent in house results have shown the material to be very free cutting and we are obtaining  high surface speeds not generally experienced with superalloys even in the aged condition. Special metals groups these in terms of machining with that of Inco 718 but it is cutting a lot easier than that.

Corrosion resistance in what environment- if you mean oxygen containing like air then of course its poor- its a nonchromium containing superalloy- nickel, cobalt and iron don't have easily createable protective oxide layers like chromium, aluminium and titanium and others.

Ok, I accept your point around the corrosion resistance but can you explain the magnetism

May want to check this but i believe Nickel is one of the main ferromagnetic materials. So with 35-40% Ni and 50+% Fe I would expect it to be fairly easy to magnetize. cannot really explain the ease of machining, I'd expect that Cobalt content to really throw a wrench into machining.
