Controlling prescribed displacement in Abaqus

Controlling prescribed displacement in Abaqus

Controlling prescribed displacement in Abaqus

(OP)
Hello!

I am a new one here and I have a problem in Abaqus.

I am modelling uniaxial cyclic tension test on coupon made of constructional steel. The coupon has its middle part (Lo = 16 mm) reduced in cross-section so that plastification can occure in this part. Deformation is measured on this area by the difference of displacement on each end of the length Lo. Coupon is on one end fixed and on the other displacement is prescribed (displacement controlled test, with prescribed amplitude (Periodic).

What I want to do is to control displacement amplitude on the top of specimen so that in each cycle maximal deformation within Lo would be of specific value (eg. 0.5 %).

Has someone an idea how this can be done in a simple way.

I am not skillful at all in programming in Abaqus, but anyway once I have to start with it.

Sketch of the model is attached.

Thanks a lot!
