Anyone has this book, and would you recommend it?
I could do with a more detailed explanation of energy methods,
and a reminder of Mohr as I haven't used that since school,
and I'd think it would be an informative book.

your thoughts?
or are there better alternatives?

RE: "Advanced Mechanics Of Solids" 2nd ed. by Srinath

Personally we used this as our college text book and is not easily followed. Self teaching from this book is not straight foward and very theoretical based.

I like it, advanced mathematical techniques, yes, theoretical.  But the emphasis is on the theory leading into the description of the paradigm.

Definitely not for engineers who prefer recipe type solution sets on well defined problems.  This would be a post graduate reference book.

There are no recipe type solutions in engineering?
Ot I must be doing something very wrong, working and sweating all day long.
Which is why I admire O. Blodgett so much. He seemed to be able to divide complex situations into much smaller, more understandable pieces.

Thanks for your replies,
I just ordered the book.
