"8.4.1 Application" reads

"This Clause applies to the transfer of longitudinal shear forces across interface shear planes through webs and flanges for composite beams, and across shear planes through flanges cast monolithically.   

This Clause also applies to the transfer of shear across any specific interface such as between precast and in situ concrete or across construction joints"

Is it necessary to check the transfer of longitudinal shear forces across interface shear planes through webs of non-composite beams (for example T beams cast monolithically) as the above clause seems to suggest that it is not necessary to do so?

In-situ? Yes but no. The more highly stressed the element the more shear reinforcement you are going to have and therefore the more reinforcement which crosses the shear plane.
