Applicable of WPS

Dear all,
i had a approved WPS (ASME IX) with contents as below:
Consumable ER 70S-6/E 7018
Process: GTAW/SMAW
Material: P No.1 Gr.1 to P No.1 Gr.1
Diameter: 75 and Over
Thickness: 4.8 to 19.0 mm
Position: 6G
can i weld this WPS for 75 and Over diameter with GTAW only???
Please explain for me.

RE: Applicable of WPS
Refer to QW-200.4(a)(1) which says that you can use one process (i.e. GTAW) from a WPS which was performed with more than one welding processes (i.e. GTAW/SMAW), providing the required variables are applied and (2)deposits welded and base metal thickness meet QW-451.
I believe (2) will be your constraint. If the deposited weld was enough to cover the maximum qualified limit of your proposed joint then you should be good to go.
RE: Applicable of WPS
excuse me..
i want to ask about pipe diameter range.
where i should refer to know how the diameter range to use.
regard.
RE: Applicable of WPS
You don't - diameter qualified should not be listed on a WPS,

Kiwi
RE: Applicable of WPS
Diameter range qualified is in Welder Performance qualification - not in WPS qualification. You appear to be confusing the requirements of API 1104 with the requirements of ASME IX.
RE: Applicable of WPS
As stanweld said, it is not an Essential or Supplementary Essential Variable for a WPS. Get rid of that ridiculous limitation with a revision to the WPS. Until that limitation is gone, you cannot 'legally' weld anything over 20.
