center of a surface or a body?

center of a surface or a body?

Hello

How can I get the center of a body or a surface?

RE: center of a surface or a body?

What do you mean "get"?  You can find the center of mass with the mass properties dialog.  The coordinates will be relative to your coordinate system.

Hi

I mean not just to get the number but automatically draw a point in that place

RE: center of a surface or a body?

A surface has no mass, so a CoG will not exist. However, a Reference Point from the Reference Geometry toolbar can be applied to it's centre of area.

RE: center of a surface or a body?

Tools/Mass properties gives the centroid and moments of inertia for a solid.
Tools/Section properties gives the centroid and moments of inertia of a planar surface.

I suppose if you wanted the centroid of a non-planar surface you could thicken it by a very small amount and use Mass properties.

Thanks

RE: center of a surface or a body?

You can also get the centroid of a surface/face by inserting a reference point.

INSERT/REFERENCE GEOMETRY/POINT
check the center of surface option.
select the face or surface you wish.

Jon
