We are dealing with a 600 HP, 900 rpm, 4000 volt motor presumably made by US Motors in the late 1960s/early 70s.  Enclosure ~ WPII.  The name plate does not even have a space for Service factor. The rpm is listed as 900, so does not reflect slip at full load.  The name plate does not look like a factory original piece, and has a supplier/rebuilder's name most prominantly displayed.

Is there a service factor implied on motors this size and type of this age?

thanks

RE: implied service factor - ca 1972

The term "Service Factor" is in relation to NEMA MG-1 motor designs, which do not apply to MV motors. Do not imply anything thaty is not expressly stated.

The implied service factor would be 1.0 unless otherwise stated.

RE: implied service factor - ca 1972

1.0 most likely.

I think the synchronous speed is normally on the nameplate not the actual.

The Westinghouse motors on the other 5 machines (originally supplied  when the machines were new) have proper looking name tags. They Include Westinghouse's logo, shows SF 1.15, and 885 rpm in place of the rather meaningless 900 rpm on the replacement, bootleg or counterfeit tag on that poor US Motors motor.
