Dwg file lock - NOT

Dwg file lock - NOT

Dwg file lock - NOT

(OP)
I'm having a devil of a time with Autocad's file locking not working.  When I open a dwg file, half of the time the file is locked it is not.  When it is not, someone else can open the file, make changes and save it while I have it open!  Then, when I go to save my changes AutoCAD says it is read only and tough luck!  I can see if the file is locked by using AutoCad's SHEETSET.  Does anyone else have this issue?

RE: Dwg file lock - NOT

We've had it do that before, but only on occasion.  Working the exact same way from one day to the next, occurs once every three or four weeks.

Haven't found a cause, and as a work around, end up doing a save-as, then comparing the two sheets back and forth trying to make sure the current changes from both files end up in the final dwg.  Quite time consuming and more than a bit of a headache.

Not much of a work-around, sorry.  Have looked into network errors, where it drops connection to one of the stations, write access to folders, etc, just shots in the dark.  No idea for the cause.

Not yet, but this is happening all over our company and it is extraordinarily frustrating.
