Mirror and/or Symmetry V5??

Mirror and/or Symmetry V5??

Mirror and/or Symmetry V5??

(OP)
I have CATIA V5 data we recieved from an equipement supplier and I came across a design process I cannot duplicate.

There are 2 catproducts with the same part name with a different instance name.  The result resmembles a copy/paste however one of the catproducts is a mirror image.  When expanding the tree, the individual catproducts contain the same parts, geo. sets, etc.

If I create a new part under either catproduct the mirror image part appears under the corresponding catproduct.

How was this accomplished?

RE: Mirror and/or Symmetry V5??

Sneaky isn't it.  They used applied a -1 to the x or y axis of a product.  I use this method and it does have some dangerous limitations.  There is a copy of the script that does this in Ferdo's compilation of CATIA_Portable_Script_Center_v2.0
Download the script center, it has a tonne of little things that will help your or guide you to the promised lands of scripting.
This script I speak of is found under the Product section and called Product symmetry

Limitations to this method:
R20SP6 step does not recognize this move.  Iges does.
The product you mirror must be located around world 0,0,0 and NO rotations.  You will create funny shapes otherwise.

Regards,
Derek

DBezaire thanks for information.  I downloaded the script and it appears that's what was done.  Can you elaborate on the "-1 to the X or Y axis"?
