Air Content in Mix Design

Air Content in Mix Design

Air Content in Mix Design

(OP)
Has anyone come across a concrete mix design that lists the air entraining admixture as "as req'd" rather than specifying a percentage and amount of admixture?

The statistical data has also been performed with 0% air for a mix that calls for 4.5% air.

I can't find a requirement that the statistical testing should be performed with the specified air entrainment.

Seems strange to me as I am trying to decide on Revise and Resubmit.

Thoughts?

RE: Air Content in Mix Design

The statistical requirement is for a class of concrete represented by a specific mix design.  That would include the proper air content as that affects the compressive strength.

Reject the mix and have the air content shown properly, with a range that is appropriate to the application.
