Contaminated Concrete

(OP)
Hi All-

I have a job in Massachusetts coming up that will likely generate concrete debris that is contaminated with metals. Can anyone lead me to any guidance regarding recycling/reuse, particularly in terms of testing requirements, cleaning requirements, etc.? We are hoping to recycle most of the concrete and dispose of the rest if necessary, but if the regulations allow for the reuse of stained concrete, we'll save some money.

Thanks.

RE: Contaminated Concrete

Are the metals hazardous?  If not, shouldn't be a big deal.

RE: Contaminated Concrete

Are you referring to the background chromium contamination? What metal(s) do you have?

The first step is to have a TCLP prepared. That will tell you wether you have a problem or not. You may need to do some lab and pilot tests.
