Calculate thickness of a plate

Calculate thickness of a plate

Calculate thickness of a plate

Hello
I'm designing an hydraulic press.
Does anyone know how to calculate the thickness of the bottom plate?
The plate is 1.5m x 1m and its locked in x direction by two guides so I guess its an hyperstatic sistem

Thanks for your help

RE: Calculate thickness of a plate

Thick enough so that when subjected to operating forces the deflection is acceptable.

Can I do the calculation like I do with a beam?
Or is there any special method?

RE: Calculate thickness of a plate

Check both methods - beam and plate - just never quite sure how anything in this world is going to behave - even my wife....

RE: Calculate thickness of a plate

LOL, good one Mike!

I consider mine more like a random variable.
