Monolithic Slab on Grade

Monolithic Slab on Grade

Monolithic Slab on Grade

(OP)
I am working on a project in the Houston, TX area. The site has low PI (ranging from 2 to 10) soils in the upper 2 feet, followed by high PI (ranging from 27 to 46) soils continuing to about fifteen feet. The client has requested to use conventionally reinforced monolithic slab-on-grade foundation system. I am not too familiar with monolithic slabs, and was hoping if someone could guide me as to the primary considerations for monolithic slabs?

Thanks!

RE: Monolithic Slab on Grade

This thread has links to two other threads that discuss this.  Pretty typical residential foundation system used in the south Texas area.
