Change Arrangement of base view?

Change Arrangement of base view?

Change Arrangement of base view?

(OP)
Hi,
I've made a drawing with a base view of the wrong arrangement.  Is it possible to change it or should I just start over?  When right clicking on the view in the part navigator and selecting edit, I don't see anything about changing the arrangement used.

Thanks,
Chris

RE: Change Arrangement of base view?

The Arrangement is not tied to a Drawing view per se, but rather to the Assembly itself.  Therefore, if you wish to change the Arrangement shown, go to the Assembly Navigator, select the Assembly component, press MB3, select Arrangements and select the desired Arrangement from the list of available ones.

RE: Change Arrangement of base view?

I'm going to have to caveat my last response and state that this only applies to Base Views which when added to the Drawing, the dialog setting for 'Arrangement' reflected the 'Default' Arrangement.  In other words, you did NOT change the Arrangement DURING the placement of the Base View.

Therefore, the recommended workflow is that under normal conditions, you should leave the dialog setting for 'Arrangment' as is when placing the base view for the Assembly which the Drawing is actually going to be based on.  Only if you wish to include secondary views of the Assembly showing any addition Arrangements, as reference or for informational purposes, should you select an alternative Arrangement during the placement of a second or third 'BASE View'.

I hope that's clear.

RE: Change Arrangement of base view?

That's a question that going to be in a PR I'm opening in the morning.  If I learn anything, I'll pass it along.

Ok thanks John.

Essentially what I have is an assembly of 4 Panels.  Each arrangement that I have is set to suppress 3 of the other panels so that each panel has its own arrangment.
On my drawing, I have one sheet for each panel, so the base view for that panel is set for the panel's specific arrangement.
I finished the drawing but had to switch the arrangments around so now the views are messed up so I was hoping there would be an easy way to change the arrangement of the base view already in the drawing.

It seems like you are saying this is bad practice and I should have each panel be a seperate assembly?

RE: Change Arrangement of base view?

It's only a "bad practice" because the tools that you need are not yet working as you need them to.  We are working on resolving these issues, and you situation is one of the one that we intend to address.  Unfortunately I can't offer any idea as to when this will be accomplished, but I can assure you that we are working on this issue.  What you're attempting to do is logical, just that we can't provide you the solution that you're looking for, at least not at the moment.

OK, that makes sense.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing some option when editing the view.

Thanks John.
