Interpolating Results from a mesh to another mesh in Ansys
Interpolating Results from a mesh to another mesh in Ansys
(OP)
Hi
I would like to use the structural results (nodal stress, velocity and acceleration) of a "WB Transient Structural" (WBTS-1) model as initial conditions for another "WB Transient Structural model" (WBTS-2).
The WBTS-1 is simple plate bending case and I used the "WBTS Beta Version" to create the deformed geometry at the end of simulation.
Then I exported the deformed geometry of WBTS-1 to FE Modeler and from there to the WBTS-2. Also, I used "INISTATE, WRITE, 1, , , , 0, S" in the WBTS-1 and created an IST file containing the nodal stresses of the WBTS-1 simulation.
In the WBTS-2 I used "INISTATE, READ, file, ist," to read the WBST-1 results as the initial conditions.
The problem arises here: Since the IST file is sorted based on node numbers only and since the node numbers are different in the WBST-2 (because of different mesh) the mapping does not occur correctly.
I was wondering if you have any macro which interpolates the data between two meshes?
Thank you very much
Regards

RE: Interpolating Results from a mesh to another mesh in Ansys
The CBDOF command can be used to interpolate results onto a sub-model. BFINT can likewise be used to map body forces. Interpolation commands (esp. BFINT) can take a bit of oompf to do their thing, so be prepared.
From the sound of it, you should probably be working in Ansys APDL, but with a few command objects you can probably trick Workbench into doing what you want it to do.
