Pressure Vessel NACE requirements

Pressure Vessel NACE requirements

Pressure Vessel NACE requirements

(OP)
I have a pressure vessel rated for sour service requiring NACE compliance.  This will require stress relieving, normalized components, and material hardness checks.

ASME VIII, Div 1 allows non pressure retaining component supports (saddles) to be regular SA-36 material.

My question is:

1.)  Are the non pressure retaining components subject to NACE?
2.)  Can standard SA-36 material be used?
3.)  Is normalized material required?

Thank you in advance.

RE: Pressure Vessel NACE requirements

engpes, if they are not exposed to the service, I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't weld the A36 directly to the vessl though, use a NACE pad.

Regards,

Mike

Check your ambient temperature range.  A-36's ductle to brittle temperature transition temperature isn't very low.
