Hi!

I´m searching for a AISI or ASTM designation for Chromel "A-A" rod or bar with a melting point of 2642°F.

Thank you so much for your help!

RE: What designation (AISI or ASTM) does Chromel "A-A" rod belongs?

Chromel is pretty much the same as Nichrome V; 80Ni,20 Cr. Try to find ASTM B 82 (it may have been replaced).

Indeed, B82 has been replaced (in 1959!)  As blacksmith37 notes, Chromel A is 80 Ni-20Cr.  The spec you are looking for is ASTM B344.  It is for drawn or rolled Ni-Cr-(Fe) alloys.

Mr failure; you sure know how to make a guy feel obsolete !

Actually, I was impressed!  You have a lot of knowledge and memory to have pulled up ASTM B82.  I was unsuccessful until you brought up that reference.
