Pressure Filter Header/Lateral Design

Pressure Filter Header/Lateral Design

Pressure Filter Header/Lateral Design

(OP)
I need some serious help in designing a series of header/lateral systems for a line of pressure filters. What I need to know is how do I determine the size for a given number of laterals? For example 750gpm is flowing through an 8" SCH80 PVC header (which is capped at the far end) that has two laterals on each side of the header. The centerline of the laterals is at the centerline of the header.

Thanks.

RE: Pressure Filter Header/Lateral Design

Start with proportioning pipe cross-sectional areas to give a velocity of about 5 ft/sec.  Then you'll have to check the pressure drops and see if the diameter needs to be larger.

Offset your laterals so you can use Tee fittings.
