Pancake valve

(OP)
I'm a technical author doing work for the oil industry and have come across 'pancake valve'. Can anyone tell me what it is? I suspect its the function of the valve within the system rather than a particular type of valve.

RE: Pancake valve

i think you are referring to a 'wafer' style check or butterfly valve.  could be wrong, but i've heard them referenced as such in various petrochem facilities along the gulf coast of the US.

RE: Pancake valve

From a Google search, it appears that the name comes from the shape of the valve.
