This looks to me like the file I was sent is rigged to point at the other engineer's local hard drive for some specific file destinations, and it's exploding when I try to run it because I don't have those same paths on my machine.  Where in HMS do I fix that?  I'm having a hell of a time finding it in the menus.  Changing the "project directory" in the Program Settings submenu does not fix the problem.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Simple HEC-HMS question (file paths)

It is easier to fix it on the other end. Have the consultant do a "Save As" of the project files to a location on his "C" drive and then send you the files. The files references will all be logically stored under that new location. That way you can recreate that same location easily on you system. Then do another "save as" on your computer if you don't want to work off your "C". The Users Manual has a fuller explanation on page 41 (Version 3.5)

If only I didn't receive the file through a third, fourth, and fifth party, and I wasn't reviewing it with the full intent of picking it apart for some pretty heinous errors I've already found, I could do that.  As-is, I have no direct contact with the consultant.

Any other ideas?

RE: Simple HEC-HMS question (file paths)

I suppose you could recreate the pathnames that it is looking for on your computer. Pain in the neck, though.

Ugh.

Didn't seem like I'd have to jump down that rabbit hole, but I guess I will if that's the only way.  Should I move the whole model down there?

RE: Simple HEC-HMS question (file paths)

I think I had this problem before.

Try opening the RUN file in notepad.  In there are lines referencing the location of the DSS file.  Try changing the pathname for those.

Thanks gopher, I'll give that a shot.
