Import 3D sketch from solidworks

(OP)
Im trying to import a 3D sketch of a space frame. Been reading up on this. Exporting as .step file seems to be the way to do it and then on abaqus: file > import > part > choose wire, import all parts, combine into single part.

However, when i do this, it comes up with an error message saying file is corrupt or invalid with a note saying i may not have Microsoft visual c++ SP1. I do have this, i even installed it again to make sure.

Has anyone got a clue how to sort this??

Thanks.
