Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

RE: Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

koneill44, one source: ASME Sec II, Part D, Table 3. Free online for members, otherwise not.

Various piping specs or other PV Codes may have them as well.

RE: Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

koneill44, you can contact the Fastenal engineering group using their contact e-mail from their website. They have a general service temperature guide for a number of different grades of fasteners.

RE: Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

koneill44,

one note of caution from experience - be aware that the ASME code temperature limits were based on 'design' bolt loads, typically 25% of yield strength.  As such, in operational duty, the temp limits are curtailed by the normal bolt loads of approximately 50% of Ys.

Just my two cents.

RE: Fastener High Temperature Service Limit

Here's a convenient common one... this is mostly concerning the ASTM/ASME grades that are common in the process piping & heavy industry worlds... not really the grade 5 / grade 8/ SAE type stuff... it has some of the common alloys & a few uncommon ones as well.

click on fasteners, and then fastener data

Helpful for a quick reference...
