Convert .DWF to .DWG

Convert .DWF to .DWG

Convert .DWF to .DWG

(OP)
Is there a way to convert Autocad .Dwf files to .DWG or any other
intermediate format?

RE: Convert .DWF to .DWG

I don't think so because DWF (Drawing Web Format) was specifically created to be a read-only non-editable format for putting drawings on the web.  The inability to edit these drawings are intentional for two reasons; copyright and liability.  In both cases, if you need to edit the drawing, go back to the creator/owner of copyright and ask them for the original dwg.  If this is an equipment supplier, I've had no trouble getting dwg's from them.  (They DO want to encourage you to use THEIR product.)

DWF TO DWG
I open a dwf file in Internet Explorer, then click Right Mouse Button and select SaveAs from the Popup Menu.
The SaveAs dialogue box offers options, among them save as DWG. That is it. The saved DWG file is a real one and AutoCAD can open it. As far as I can see, there is no loss of data either.

However I do not know if any Internet Explorer can open a DWF file or whether you need to download WHIP! for this.

Hope this is useful.

RE: Convert .DWF to .DWG

tigrek is correct.

WHIP is required for any browser to open a DWF file.

RE: Convert .DWF to .DWG

According to me you need to obtain a connection with the source DWG file while making a "Save As".  You will recieve an invalid source path error if it is not available.  If it is working well with out a connection from the source file, it is efficient to keep all old DWG files as DWF files since DWF file occupies less space.
