Dear members:


Cause our boss suggest that extreme care should be taken when sizing lines for low pressure and vacuum service.
.It is worthwhile to calculate pressure drops for small lengths say 10 ft. Using line segment equivalent lengths of 100 ft. or more can lead to errors when computer programs are used because exit pressures could drop below absolute zero.

I have a project that needed to size a vacuum pump which is to get the dust on the ground to the recycle tank.

known:
1. The dust velocity at vacuum vessel outlet is around 40m/s
2. vacuum pump to be discharged to ATM.

It seems that V^2/2gc*density could be adopted to get suction pressure.But I am not sure.

To be sizing the vacuum pump, is it appropriate to use suction pressure subtracted from discharge pressure to to get the differential head.?

And, I also post my excel spreadsheet for this calculation.
