Section Curve Through Assembly

Section Curve Through Assembly

Section Curve Through Assembly

(OP)
Hi, I have NX 7.5 and ran into a bit of a problem.

I am working with a simple 2 component assembly, with no constraints. I had to move one of the components into it's proper position by using Move Component. That went fine, but when I went to use Section Curve through the assembly, the section was in it's proper location for the one component based on the plane that I chose, but for the second component that I had to move, the section was cut and shown in it's original location PRIOR to the component being moved. All my reference sets are correct, my WCS is at absolute, just as I need it, and my work part/display part are the same. Why is it skewing part of the section?

I have been cutting sections through assemblies for years and I have never run into this before.

See attachment below.
The section is cut along the XC plane (section shown in green). The sections lines are correct through the red part, but as you can see, they are not correct through the orange part.

RE: Section Curve Through Assembly

I just tested this using NX 7.5.5.4 (a development phase of the next MR) and it works just fine.  Perhaps you should contact GTAC to see if this was a known problem which is being fixed in the next MR.

@MarkFromMI
What version of 7.5 are you running? We've seen some issues on 7.5.4, that were related (I think) to an unsupported video card driver.  Not the same as what you're describing, but thought I'd mention it - you might check to see whether you're using an officially supported (by Siemens/NX) video driver.  It's annoying that Microsoft pushes out video driver updates through Windows Update, as the user usually assumes these updates are the right thing to do, but video drivers can definitely cause unexpected issues with NX.
