Steel lintels for 10" CMU
Steel lintels for 10" CMU
(OP)
Does anyone have recommendations for a cost-effective design for steel loose lintels for 10" CMU? I usually use back to back angles for 8" and 12" CMU sized to be back from the outside edges. But 10" CMU (9 5/8") presents a different situation as only 4" and 5" leg angles are produced. Is 8" of steelwidth below a 9 5/8" CMU sufficient?

There's a bunch @ 9" wide, loading will be balanced, wide enough to keep the spiders out, etc.

W8 will be better unbraced, and easier for the fabricator to find.
