Concrete cylinder columns wall thickness
Concrete cylinder columns wall thickness
(OP)
I am looking for design provisions dealing with minimal wall thickness for cylindrical concrete columns. I assume this would probably be defined in terms of a Diameter to thickness ratio. Current problem is a 24 ft diameter column about 40 ft high and supporting large vertical and lateral loadings.

Well, really, I would probably not go any thinner than 6". No numbers were crunched to arrive at that thickness..just gut instinct I guess.

Consider a 1 metre strip of wall and design for axial and in-plane shear.

I'm not suggesting you use ACI's min wall thickness, just my 0.0002 x 10^4 cents.
