Color of Step File

Color of Step File

Color of Step File

(OP)
Hello,

I receive a step file from one of our suppliers.  When I read it in, it is a large assembly (250 parts).  I normally generate catpart from product so I only have 1 catpart, however this does not hole the color of the step.  The instances have the color applied to them, not the parent part body, is there anyway to keep these colors.

RE: Color of Step File

Jopal,
Catia is designed to be 1 CATpart per piece and has the tools to manage assemblies.  That is another topic.  Are you referring to individual face colours of the solid or just the solid itself?

Either way you can preserve the colour of the face with Tools -- Options -- Infrastructure -- Part Infra -- Part Document - Color Management - Inherit colors from the reference feature.

All Cat Part will only keep the base colour of the solid but you can use copy/paste and preserve the individual colours.

Regards,
Derek
