Typical ARV on Submersible firewater pump

Typical ARV on Submersible firewater pump

(OP)
Hi all,

Im still new in designing firewater system on offshore platform.

regarding the ARV, may i know what is the typical type of air release valve for the submersible pump?

ive read some technical data from some manufacturers. there is an ARV with small orifice and some with large orifice to exhaust the air. i believed the orifice size is to control the speed of water rise from  the pipe column.

what is the type of valve that people normally used? is it small orifice or large orifice?

Thanks in advanced!

RE: Typical ARV on Submersible firewater pump

The type of ARV will depend somewhat on the tank and piping arrangement.

Agood ARV would have both large and small orifice in one valve.

Google Vent-O-Mat and check out their RBXc valve.
