Procurement/design of porous sphere and porous cylinder

Procurement/design of porous sphere and porous cylinder

Procurement/design of porous sphere and porous cylinder

(OP)
Hi,
Does anyone have any idea on how to obtain a porous sphere of about 8cm external diameter and a porous cylinder of about 6cm external diameter and 15cm height?

The purpose of these materials is to study the effect of blowing and suction of fluid through the material on the forces acting on the body. Hence, the sphere and cylinder would also have to be hollow inside.

I have contacted many manufacturers but none seem to be able to provide what I need. I've thought of a design where a sphere is shaped with metal and holes are made around it with porous material covering the material. Do you think that's viable? Flow past the porous material has to be laminar and fairly even around the sphere and cylinder for Darcy's Law to apply.

I would appreciate any help and advice given.

Thanks.

It should be possible to make sintered powder metal preforms that size...but you need to find a shop with a big enough press.
