Need your suggestion.

I want my steel D2 gear look better after machining. I need some coating that can last so the color not easy to feed out. What do you recommend? thanks

How about one of the hard cermets used for coating tool steels, e.g. titanium nitride.

Thanks I have through about this. I have some tools coated with titanium nitride. The Golden color feed out after some time of using. So, I think the ti coating is not suitable on gearing.

RE: coating for d2 gear

I find it interesting that you are interested more in color than life increasing technology.

RE: coating for d2 gear
