I have attached the drawing of a grading curve of a soil which is fully dry, however if we take that same sample and put it in a cylinder full of water then how would the grading curve look like? Would the particles break apart and thus the curve shift to the left? Water = 25% Soil = 75%. I'm sorry about the extremely bad drawing as well, not my best days with paint!

So long as the material doesn't "break down" due to the addition of water, the grading will not change in 95% of the cases - the only case I could think of is water is attracted by atomic forces (as it is available and wasn't prior) which could 'grow' the clay structure - but then, again, for clays, the hydrometer is not really a 'perfect' way to measure grain size.
