Help drawing a coil/spring for a shock absorber

Help drawing a coil/spring for a shock absorber

(OP)
Hi, I am new to the forum and I had a question. I am drawing a front suspension package for one of my classes, in order to perform NASTRAN analysis on the suspension. But, I have run into an issue. I can not figure out how to draw the coil/spring portion of my shock absorbers. Can anyone help me out?
(And I'm drawing everything on NX 6)

Thanks!

Are you by any chance a student?  If so, you need to be careful about asking for help if it pertains to something which you are doing as part of a classroom assignment as this may result in your inquiry being removed from Eng-Tips.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

The class is not a NX/CAD class, it is a stress analysis class, and we need to demonstrate the stresses in the suspension both software and numerically. And in order for me to properly do so I need to design my shock absorbers, and drawing coils/springs was not a topic that was taught in my CAD class, which is why I am making the inquiry. I am not wanting someone to do the work for me I just need the proper direction so I can draw the spring/coil of my shock absorbers.

OK, that fine with me, but I felt obligated to least get that out and off the table.

Now that that's out of the way, I've attached a model of a coild spring which may provide some insite and inspiration into how one might go about creating something to meet your needs.

If you go to the Expression system you will find a series of expressions to control the parameters (size, number of coils, etc.) of the spring.

I understand the reason why you asked.

Thank you! I will try to use your example as a reference to what I need to do.

Thank you very much to the both of you, I was able to successfully draw my shock absorber.
