MV Switchgear Control Power Choice

MV Switchgear Control Power Choice

MV Switchgear Control Power Choice

(OP)
For a medium voltage switchgear lineup, in a typical industrial or commercial setting.  I tend to prefer a DC Battery Bank providing control power to the MV Breakers Close & Trip & Charge, and Protective Relaying Power (assuming digital relays).
This for reliability and dependibility, perhaps not economics.
I know there is alot of talent on this board.  Does anyone like to see something else, and why?
Thank you.

RE: MV Switchgear Control Power Choice

125VDC controls are the most common and easiest to find replacement parts for. Something most people do not consider.

RE: MV Switchgear Control Power Choice

If the end user is comfortable with a battery system, including required periodic maintenance, then I agree that station battery is the best approach if high reliability and operating flexibility is a requirement.
