'Fully' hermitic compressors: How to charge and recover?

'Fully' hermitic compressors: How to charge and recover?

(OP)
I have only used commericial compressors with valves attached to the suction and discharge lines, where the hoses of a manifold gauge can be attached and can therefore read the pressures in the system.

Problem: with a fully hermatic compressor there are no such valves, so I can not attach the gauges. Can some engineer let me know how to recover and charge from these compressors? What equipment to use to do this?

Refrig!

Generally there is a takeoff tube in the suction pipe to the compressor which is pinched after gascharging. You can cut open that and can provide a valve.

You can buy access valves that clamp onto the suction and or the discharge line for manifold gauge connection and refrigerant recovery. There are also visegrip and plier clamp on tools that pierce the refrigerant lines for recovery. I like to solder in access valves in line and remove the clamp on access valves as they leak and should only be used temporarily. Any good refrigeration wholesaler should carry these tools.

"Process tube adapters" (By Robinair) and "Piercing valves" (By Supco, Watsco, etal) are readily available.
